Thematically oriented to Multi-Culturalism and a Green emphasis including recycling and repurposing. We include student participation with a pots & pans "drum circle," call and response singing. Songs students love including: Jump in the Line, Day-Oh, Under the Sea, Lion Sleeps Tonight & Hot-Hot-Hot. Interdisciplinary school curriculum to use the week prior to build on the fun and learning.
Blue Man/Stomp-like recycled percussion numbers that demonstrate how the steel drum is made & what makes it a melodic percussion instrument. A special emphasis is put on recycling and repurposing to keep our planet green!
Geographic and multi- cultural discussion of the Caribbean islands, particularly Trinidad, West Indies where the steel drum originated. All the above guarantee the assembly to be the one students and teachers will talk about all year long!
The assembly consists of five musicians (two steel drummers playing three steel drums), a percussionist playing bongos, congas, timbales and 25 percussion instruments including tambourines, cow bells, etc. PLUS a drum set player and guitar player.
Alternatively, our 3 man assembly consists of two steel drummers playing three steel drums and a percussionist playing bongos, congas, timbales and 25 percussion instruments Drum Set and Bass Guitar from above are pre-recorded rhythm “tracks."
Sounds like the five musician assembly, but we have less flexibility in our interaction with students as we are playing with a pre-recorded drum-set and bass guitar.
